It was 1985 when I first experienced the beauty, history, and romance of Italy. The amazing food, ancient architecture, and scores of stylish men and women created a deep appreciation for this old world and elegant culture. The level of craftsmanship and design in every facet of Italian life was at a level I had never experienced as a young man endeavoring to build a world-class brand.

It occurred to me during one sourcing trip to Florence (the birthplace of the Renaissance), that pizza makers had been perfecting family pizza recipes longer than America had been a country. That same realization was also vividly apparent when working with generational Italian tanneries and footwear artisans.
