It was a beautiful South Georgia evening, just after finishing a quail, rutabaga and fried cabbage dinner, when one of the guides asked why Martin Dingman didn’t produce upland hunting boots.

Apparently, the reputation of the MD brand had preceded my visit, and the guides were all prepared to challenge me. The question caused me to freeze for a moment, I struggled to recover. Truth was, I could not give them a good answer, as there was no logical reason we had not created a premium hunting boot. In retrospect a burning flame was kindled that night. I had raised and trained fine birddogs for 20 years and currently breed Royal Llewellin Setters. My love of a good birddog and the outdoors is right up there with world-class leathergoods and footwear. The conversation with these seasoned professionals lasted late into the evening. Jeremy, Dell, and Townsend all guide from the first of November until the middle of March, seven days a week, therefore, I listened intently. Their concerns were comfort, durability and style which quickly became a personal challenge.
